Lifestart provides a family centred approach to meeting the needs of children living with disability and their families.  It is based on the concept of partnership with children, families and carers to assist and empower them to participate meaningfully and inclusively in our community.

Lifestart Special Educator wins award

Lifestart Special Educator Carlyn Galbraith has been awarded a 2009 NEiTA ASG Inspirational State & Territory Teaching Award. This Award is presented to teachers who develop in students a strong and long-lasting love of learning, encourage student empowerment and self-belief, stimulate students’ creativity and innovative thinking, create inspirational teaching environments and have a positive influence on colleagues and community. Carolyn was the only Special Educator in NSW to receive the Award.  In a presentation held at Lifestart Nepean where Carolyn is based, Penrith Councillor Tanya Davies said how proud she was of the work Lifestart was doing and of Carolyn’s achievements.  “As a mother”, she said, “I find it hard to express just how much it means to know that people like Carolyn are here to give assistance in what can be traumatic times. Penrith Council are very pleased to be a supporter of Lifestart.”
