Kayak for Kids 2011… A sparkling event!

Kayak for Kids 2011 was an outstanding success for Lifestart and a wonderful experience for all involved as 583 paddlers took to the water on spectacular Sydney Harbour on Sunday 27 March. Provisional results are now available courtesy of Blast Paddlers.
Well done to all our paddlers and fundraisers, particularly Macquarie Group whose three team entries have so far raised $29,410. Our best team fundraisers were: 1) I Love Paddlepops - $16,030; 2) Simon Says - $12,820; 3) Mumble & Maddox - $12,500; and the top three paddlers across the line were: 1) Julian Callebaut in a time of 01:17:06; 2) Pro Kayaks in 01:20:05; 3) Harmsen & Harmsen in a time of 01:21:21. Thank you goes to World Ironman Champion and event ambassador, Guy Leech, paralympian Paul Nunnari as MC for the day and Jean Hay, Mayor of Mosman.
After the paddle, families, friends and business colleagues all braved the weather to enjoy some fresh fruit, a chicken kebab and a drink at Clontarf Reserve where the kids were treated to a bouncy castle, clown and face painter. For the first time at this event, we had picnic hampers on offer which were a big hit for those who ordered them.
Lifestart depends on fundraising to remain at the forefront of providing early childhood intervention and school aged services to children with a disability or developmental delay. To everyone who gave their support and fundraised for Lifestart… thank you but it’s not over yet! Online donations through www.everydayhero.com.au will remain open until the end of April so please dig deep and play a vital role in securing much needed funds for Lifestart.
