NDIS Early Rollout Update

Important update on the early roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The Commonwealth and NSW Governments have signed an agreement for early transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in the Nepean Blue Mountains area.

The early transition of NDIS - a full one year ahead of schedule - will provide supports for around 2,000 eligible children and young people aged 0 -17 years living in the local government areas of the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lithgow and Penrith.

Information linkages and capacity building supports will be available from July and individualised packages for eligible NDIS recipients are expected to be available from September.

People aged 18 years and over residing in the Nepean Blue Mountains will be able to access the NDIS when it is rolled out between July 2016 and June 2018. It is expected that the NSW Government will have an agreed NDIS transition plan with the Commonwealth in mid 2015. This plan will indicate when and how people will phase into the NDIS scheme across NSW.
