Role Purpose:

Early Childhood Coordinators implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Early Childhood Approach, supporting children 0 – 6 years with developmental delay or disability. With a key focus on the individual needs of the child, supports are delivered using a family centred approach to achieve long term positive outcomes for each child and their family/carer.

Working alongside families, Early Childhood Coordinators play a key role in guiding and supporting families/carers to:

  •  understand the different pathways available for their child, which may include access to the NDIS, short term early intervention, community and mainstream supports, or a combination of these
  • develop goals and strategies that supports their child’s development

Early Childhood Coordinators also:

  • prepare and develop reports and NDIS funded plans, in accordance with NDIA requirements
  • participate in community capacity building initiatives and support mainstream services to become accessible to those with developmental delay or disability
  • work in a multi-disciplinary team, sharing experiences and expertise, collaborating with other Early Childhood Coordinators including allied health, human services and education professionals.

Early Childhood Coordinators must be able to work flexibility including at the office, WFH and within client homes, early childhood, school and community settings.


Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in allied health, early childhood, child development, community services or other relevant study/ experience 


  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS, in particular the Early Childhood Approach
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, developmental delay or disability
  • Familiar with early childhood development and early intervention supports/ concepts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inclusion and using person and family centred approaches
  • High level communication and report writing skills, and acts with discretion and confidentiality
  • Valid Working with Children’s Check Clearance (WWC)
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS WC)
  • Successful pre-employment police check
  • Current driver’s licence and use of own car

Lifestart has a COVID-19 vaccination policy that has identified this role as requiring full COVID-19 vaccination (including 1 booster). Medical exemptions with the NSW government contraindication form will be considered, subject to a satisfactory risk assessment.

Deliver assessments, early connections and early supports, and other appropriate strategies to assist children and families achieve positive long-term outcomes.

Work with relevant stakeholders to build capacity of local mainstream and community services to increase participation and inclusion of children with developmental delay or disability.
Communication and AccountabilityEffectively ensure all information is treated in a way that respects the individual clients right to confidentiality and dignity.

Comply with Lifestart policies and procedures and other relevant standards for service provision.

Positively represent Lifestart in all opportunities, role modelling the Code of Conduct and actively supporting the mission, vision and values.

Seek support from the team leader through open communication.
Reporting, Documentation & AdministrationCarry out reporting, documentation and administration tasks including service records.

Maintain case notes, plans and required documentation on NDIA’s Client Record Management system.

Comply with organisational requirements for the accurate and timely completion of documentation.
