Are you looking to transition from clinical practice or a classroom environment, into a role that allows you to make a broader impact to children with disability, developmental delays or concerns?

Lifestart is an Early Childhood Partner, delivering the NDIS Early Childhood Approach across the South East Sydney region including Eastern Suburbs and/or Sutherland shire. We work in partnership to empower children aged 0-9 years and their families, building their capacity so they have the tools to reach their full potential.

We have a new opportunity available for those with experience as an Early Childhood Teacher, Social Worker, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist or Physiotherapist to join our team, in the position of an Early Childhood Coordinator.

Bringing your clinical or early education background to the position, our Early Childhood Coordinators are the main contact and Key Worker for parents & carers who have concerns about their child’s development, and play a key role in assisting families to establish the most appropriate early intervention pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Using your knowledge of children’s developmental millstones, complete observations and using information from screening tools and/or assessments to understand the impact of the delay or disability
  • Working with the family to identify their goals and priorities for their child
  • Identify and explain the most appropriate support pathways including access to early supports or applying for an NDIS Plan
  • Supporting families to connect with local or community service providers such as community or child health services, playgroups, childcare, parent support groups, education options and recreation
  • If the child is eligible, supporting the family to access a NDIS plan for child

You may have:

  • Relevant experience supporting children with additional needs, disability, developmental delays or related concerns
  • Experience or knowledge of early childhood development and milestones, including early intervention supports and concepts
  • Understanding of using person and family centred approaches
  • Proficient IT skills and be tech-savvy, to navigate client databases and write detailed reports
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, able to work collaboratively with clients and their families, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the NDIS and the Early Childhood Approach

Qualification requirement:

  • Bachelor or Master degree qualification in Early Childhood Teaching, Social Sciences/Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Physiotherapy
  • Eligible for registration with AHPRA or SPA (if relevant)

Essential

  • Ability to adapt to regularly changing processes
  • Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) Clearance
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) Clearance
  • Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus or accepted medical exemption certificate
  • Current driver’s licence and use of own car to visit clients across region, as required

Deliver assessments, early connections and early supports, and other appropriate strategies to assist children and families achieve positive long-term outcomes.

Work with relevant stakeholders to build capacity of local mainstream and community services to increase participation and inclusion of children with developmental delay or disability.
Communication and AccountabilityEffectively ensure all information is treated in a way that respects the individual clients right to confidentiality and dignity.

Comply with Lifestart policies and procedures and other relevant standards for service provision.

Positively represent Lifestart in all opportunities, role modelling the Code of Conduct and actively supporting the mission, vision and values.

Seek support from the team leader through open communication.
Reporting, Documentation & AdministrationCarry out reporting, documentation and administration tasks including service records.

Maintain case notes, plans and required documentation on NDIA’s Client Record Management system.

Comply with organisational requirements for the accurate and timely completion of documentation.
