Role Purpose

To lead the development and implementation of communication plans and initiatives to support Lifestart to deliver its mission and vision and achieve strategic goals.

Enhance Lifestart’s brand and reputation to position Lifestart as a leading provider of supports to children and young people living with a disability and their families and carers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A qualification in communications or relevant field.
  • Experience in a senior management role.
  • Experience in the not for profit, disability, or broader community services sector.
  • Demonstrated skills in a senior management role
  • Outstanding organisational and leadership abilities
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with sound professional judgement
  • Excellent written, verbal, communicating and influencing skills
  • Ability to identify and deliver sustainable continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver communication/marketing outcomes to meet strategic goals
  • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to write for a range of purposes, channels, and audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information and communicate it simply
  • Experienced, confident communicator with the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences
  • Well-developed understanding of the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme.


  • A valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) Clearance
  • A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) Clearance
  • Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus or accepted medical exemption certificate
  • Current driver’s licence and use of own car

Communication and MarketingDevelop and implement communication and marketing strategies and actions plans to build awareness of Lifestart’s mission, vision, and services, as well as to enhance the reputation of Lifestart.

Oversee the development of Lifestart’s communication assets, including content, imagery, and video to support marketing and communications strategies.

Plan, deliver and manage internal communication strategies to maintain effective engagement of staff.

Provide leadership in analysing market trends, determine marketing strategies and setting and implementing social media and communication campaigns to align with marketing strategies.
Management Provide leadership, direction, and management of the Communications Team.

Guide and direct the activities of the Communications Team to ensure the provision of high-quality communication, media and marketing activities and initiatives.

Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports enabling them to achieve business objectives in an environment with a strong internal and external customer focus.
Organisational Citizenship and TeamworkDemonstrate an active, dedicated commitment to Lifestart’s mission, vision, values and strategic direction to all stakeholders, internally and externally.

Ensure a high level of confidentiality and integrity; liaise with stakeholders in a professional, respectful and constructive manner.
