Our Start Strong Pathways program provides educational supports for young children prior to preschool enrolment to strengthen their early learning opportunities and promote transition to early learning environments.

One young boy, Ethan was referred to our Start Strong team earlier this year. Ethan has a developmental disability called Williams Syndrome and benefits from opportunities for learning and developing skills in everyday environments.

Our team linked the family up with local early childhood education services to determine the best placement for their son. After reviewing some options, Ethan commenced an extended orientation period at an education centre. During this orientation period, our team worked collaboratively with staff at the centre to implement inclusive practices to nurture Ethan’s sense of empowerment and active participation.

Although some challenges were encountered along the way, we’re happy to report that Ethan has now commenced his enrolment at the centre. His parents are thrilled with the progress he has been making and have noted substantial gains in his development. “Without the Start Strong program, I probably would have experienced more difficulties along the way,” Ethan’s mother remarked.
