Celebrating National Child Protection Week

This week is National Child Protection Week. The theme this year is ‘Every child, in every community, deserves a fair go’. Lifestart is a supporter of National Child Protection Week and our pledge, this week and every week, is to put the rights, safety and wellbeing of all children and young people first and promote their participation.

Every child in every community deserves a fair go, regardless of their circumstances. At Lifestart we go above our mandatory child protection requirements, ensuring that staff have information about the services and supports available to help keep children safe.

To acknowledge National Child Protection week, Lifestart has collaborated with Towradgi Public School, holding a creative arts session and a yarning circle with students to talk about and express what makes them feel safe in their community.

During the session the talented students from Years 1-6 in both support and mainstream classes created artworks about their connection to their family, their pets, the people in their community, school, peers and friends – and how all of these connections make them feel safe and supported.

Take a look at the artworks they created below.

  • ‘Connection to my family’

  • ‘Pets’

  • ‘The people who I live alongside’

  • ‘My School’

  • ‘My peers and friends’
