At the end of last year we said goodbye to Sue Becker, Lifestart’s CEO from 2010 – 2022.

When Sue started at Lifestart, she was planning to stay for two years. She ended up staying for 13. In that time, she saw Lifestart grow from an organisation that supported 375 children to one that supported over 14,000.

In her time at Lifestart, Sue has been an outward-looking CEO, always considering opportunities for the organisation to change and grow. She has always kept Lifestart’s core mission, to support the inclusion of children and young people, at the heart of all her work.

Sue has been a powerful advocate for our clients, providing feedback on the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and participating in the design of the Early Childhood Approach.

When asked what advice she would give the Lifestart community for the future, Sue said: “Be creative, challenge things, and do what you can to advocate for change… People have the right to live an inclusive life alongside their peers, and the community has an obligation to include everyone and recognise diversity in all its forms.”

Sue is retiring, and we wish her all the best for the future. Her passion, commitment and drive will be missed at Lifestart.

Lifestart will welcome our new CEO in the coming months.
