Immediate availability for your child's support - no matter where they are - when every day counts.

Lifestart delivers telehealth online supports to any child with a disability or developmental concern, no matter where they’re located in Australia. This means a therapist or practitioner will work with your family and child remotely via a computer’s webcam or the camera of a mobile or tablet device. These services are offered under two NDIS support categories: Improved Daily Living and Improved Relationships. We also offer payment plans using private health cover or medicare rebates.

One or more of the following therapies can be provided online:

Our allied health professionals are all fully qualified clinicians and practitioners who specialise in supporting children with disability or developmental delay. They’ve also been trained to deliver therapies and supports online, including parent coaching, to maximise the many benefits of telehealth.

Why telehealth?

N

The less intrusive mode of telehealth means our therapists can observe your child in their natural environment and have a better practical understanding of their behaviour, challenges and strengths.

N

Delivery of telehealth is less disruptive to a child’s routine, making it easier to embed vital support into their daily lives.

N

Kids today are much more comfortable with online interactions and often tell us they feel more at ease interacting online and can therefore be more engaged in the support and be their real selves.

N

It’s more affordable than an in-person therapist visit where you’re charged for travel time.

N

It’s more convenient than having to bring your child to a clinical setting.

How is it delivered?

Once you finalise the time and date of your session, you’ll receive a link via email. Simply click on the link when it’s time. It’s that easy!

To be able to join the session from the link, you will need the following:

  • A digital communications device with a working camera and microphone input (a laptop or desktop computer is preferred)
  • A stable internet connection
  • Any web browser such as safari or firefox (you do not need an app installed)
  • If you have any trouble, we’re happy to talk you through any steps and help you get the best quality online support for you and your child.

To book online support, fill out our simple telehealth enquiry form below. A Lifestart Customer Experience Specialist will be in touch to answer any questions you have, discuss you and your child’s needs, and connect you with the right Therapist or Practitioner. Once you’re ready, they’ll book your online session at a date and time that suits you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my child won’t sit in front of a computer for very long?

We don’t expect your child to sit in front of the computer for a whole session. Telehealth is useful for observing your child in their everyday activities, coaching you as the child’s carer so that you are confident in using strategies in your everyday routines, suggesting changes to the tasks and environment to help your child succeed, and sometimes working directly with your child. We will tailor our approach to what you and your child need.

What is the hourly rate?

Telehealth sessions are charged like any other standard support session. We charge three different hourly rates in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits guide – $232.99 for Behaviour Support, $193.99 for Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology, and $183.99 for Physio.

How do I pay for Telehealth?

If your child has an NDIS plan, you can use Lifestart therapists and practitioners under the Improved Daily Living Skills and/or Improved Relationships categories.

If you do not have an NDIS plan, you can also talk to your private health insurer who may cover part of the costs. You can also use a referral from your GP to access Medicare funding to cover part of the costs

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to change or cancel an appointment, please tell us at least two days before and let us know within regular business hours (8am-5pm Monday to Friday) so we can change your booking without incurring a cancellation fee. Otherwise, you will be billed for the session.

Can I talk to the therapist before booking the treatment to make sure I am comfortable with them?

Yes, we offer a free 15-minute introduction phonecall with therapists. Ring 1800 953 390 to talk to one of our Customer Experience team or fill out our enquiry form below and once available therapists are connected to your needs, you can request a consult.
