Starting school is a big step in your child’s life.  As a parent or caregiver of a child with a developmental delay or disability, there are many ways you can support and empower your child during this transitional period.

If you are supporting a child who is about to start school, why not join this 3-part webinar series online during Term 4.  Each one hour session starts at 12 noon (3 x 1-hour sessions in total).  The zoom link will be available when you register.

If you already have questions about transitioning to primary school, please submit your questions in your Eventbrite registration or bring with you on the day and type in the chat function.

It would be ideal if you could attend all 3 sessions.  However, you are welcome to attend those that you can make.  Please complete the questions in the Eventbrite link for session 3 so that we can ensure our Q and A session is addressing your questions.

Session 1: Getting Ready for School

Date: Tuesday 25/10/2022

Hear simple ideas that you can put in place to support the transition to school process from an experienced Speech Pathologist, an Early Childhood (NDIS Partners) staff member, and our Inclusion Support Officer.  Resources will be emailed to participants after the session.

Session 2: Conversations: Preparing for School

Date: Tuesday 8/11/2022

Join this conversation to hear from parents and carers, all with different experiences, as they share the practical ways they prepared their child for school.  You will learn strategies and be provided with useful tools to support the transition whilst building your child’s confidence and independence.

The conversation is hosted by Kindred, a family-led organisation focusing on peer support to empower families to build the knowledge and confidence that will see their families thrive.

Session 3: Q and A Session

Date: Tuesday 22/11/2022

Join staff from across Lifestart to discuss your questions and provide you with some practical answers to help you with building your child’s confidence and independence for starting school.  Tell us if you have specific questions.

We will address questions like:

  • What should I do more of?
  • How can I best support my child?
  • Where can I go for more answers?

Register on the Eventbrite page.

These webinars are brought to you by Lifestart’s BelongINC Family Supports, Early Childhood partner and Specialised Support Team.
